Every Fremen knows that water is poison to the worms, yet they're all okay with bringing a ton of water to Arrakis. What confuses me is that this seems like common sense, even if you don't know the maturing process of the worms. They treat this as if it's only known to them and maybe Alia. Leto and Ghanima discuss early in the book that they know the terraforming changes to Arrakis will be fatal to the worms (because they understand the process discussed above). In this state water is not poisonous to them. They are stretchy and fuse together to block of areas with water, leaving very few to mature into adulthood. My understanding is that these are sorta the larval state of the worms. Sandtrout are introduced in this book and I'm a little hazy on some things. Was this move from Jessica supposed to help the Bene Gesserit and Leto ruined that? Was it for her own gain? What did it actually accomplish? What exactly did Jessica do to Farad'n? There seems to be this whole plot about her going to the Corrino planet and secretly training Farad'n to be under her control, but then he just ends up being a historian for Leto II and none of that really seems to come into play. So I know a lot of question threads get thrown around here, and I generally try to avoid asking questions and figure things out myself, but there are some things in CoD that I don't really understand (I'm about 150 pages into GEoD).
